N.E. Chastain, 81, Succumbs
Noey Edward Chastain, 1393 N. Commercial St., passed away Sunday at a Salem Nursing home at the age of 81. He had been a Salem area resident about 30 years.
He was born Nov. 9, 1874, in Jefferson County, Ill.
He leaves his widow, Mrs. Mary Z. Chastain, Salem; six daughters, Mrs. Reita Thurman, Mrs. Greeta Haynes, Mrs. Ethel Haynes and Mrs. Genevieve Thurman, all of Willows, Calif.; and Mrs. Goldie Vogt and Mrs. Mary Redinger, both of Salem; five sons, Warren and Frank Chastain, both of Salem; Earl and Ralph Chastain, both of Lebanon; and Leonard Chastain, Salem; two brothers, George Chastain, Salem, and Larkin Chastain, Sweet Home; and 35 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Clough-Barrick Chapel, Rev. Roy Ferguson officiating. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.
