While fighting this disease, she continued to excel in her work at Kenneth Cole. Then, in 2009, she was able to turn her full focus towards activism for early colorectal cancer screening while continuing her own battle. Her goal was to help spare others the tribulations that she, herself endured. To this end, she partnered with the Colon Cancer Alliance and Mary Crowley Cancer Research Center. She leaves behind her husband Canon, parents Pat and Joe Zatopek, sister and brother-in-law Cheryl and Fred Dunigan, grandmother Viola Meade, as well as everyone she touched.
