Porfirio Ulibarrí Apodaca, age 85, from Polvadera, NM, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, October 2, 2016 in Socorro, NM at the Good Samaritan Society surrounded by all his children.
Porfirio was born on January 7, 1931 in San Marcial, NM to Misais Apodaca and Tomasita Ulibarrí.
Porfirio had a very active life. Porfirio worked at New Mexico Tech for many years. Porfirio also worked for the Socorro Consolidated Schools from which he retired after 13 of service as a custodian. Porfirio really enjoyed his retirement and traveling to Texas to visit with his daughter and grandkids and he also enjoyed going to his grandkids games.
Porfirio is survived by his sons, Ronnie and his wife, Frances of Socorro, NM, Carl and his wife, Eileen of Magdalena, NM, Gary and his wife, Juanita of Polvadera, NM and David and his wife, Ida of Belén, NM and his daughter, Sandra and her husband, Melchor of Arlington, TX, his sisters, Clara Gutiérrez, Edna Rivera and Helen Harmon and also his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Porfirio was preceded in death by his father, Misais Apodaca, mother, Tomasita Ulibarrí, daughters, Lorraine Apodaca and Rosemary Apodaca and his brothers, Misais Apodaca Jr., Peter García and Walter Ulibarrí.
A private viewing was held on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Daniel’s Funeral Home in Socorro, NM. Rosary and Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. at San Miguel Catholic Church at 403 El Camino Real. Immediately following with inurnment at the Polvadera Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Danny Apodaca, Melchor Oyervides, John Vote and Daniel Granados. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Porfirio's grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildrene.
