Mrs. Mary Catherine Blandenburg, 57, of Newnan died July 11, 1998 at Newnan Hospital.

Mrs. Blandenburg was born Aug. 25, 1940 in Coweta County. A member of Greater Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church in Newnan, she served as Steward, Trustee, president of the Gospel Choir, president of the Stewardess Board #2, supervisor of the young people's department and president of the hospitality committee.

In community service, she was president of the Krystallette Civic and Social Club, vice-president of the Joiles Femmes Civic and Social Club, past worthy matron of the Newnan Chapter 483 Order of the Eastern Star, and member of the Annie B. Gibbons Assembly, Order of the Golden Circle 367.

She was employed by Dr. and Mrs. Nathaniel Glover, the City of Newnan as a school crossing guard, Dr. and Mrs. Jimmy Thomasson, Ryan's Steak House and as chief manager of Coweta County elections.

A funeral will be Wednesday, July 15, 1998 at 11 a.m. at Greater Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church. The Rev. James Alexander will officiate, assisted by evangelist Alee McCleskey, the Rev. Huilet Arnold, the Rev. C. Melson and others. Interment will be in West View Cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Surviving are her children, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence G. (Sandoval) Faulkner, Ms. Wilhemina Denise Berry and Mr. and Mrs. Leno (Skip) Blandenburg III; four grandchildren; sisters, Evangelists Charles and Alee McCleskey of Atlanta, Ms. Callie Woods and Ms. Primmer Ragland of Newnan; brothers, Frank Wortham, of North Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Geneva Woods of Newnan and Gunnie Wortham of Alabama; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
