LON NICHOLS, OF KEMPTON, FOUND DEAD TUESDAY
Death Takes well known barber after two days illness.
Lon Nichols, 65, who has conducted a barber shop, and employed in the Robert Moore shop at the present time, was found dead in his room about four o'clock on Tuesday afternoon. He had complained of being ill on Monday and Tuesday and friends called on and visited him at intervals.
Mr. Moore was the last person who visited him, and asked Dr. W. G. Ross to call on him. When the doctor called he found him lying on the floor, dead. From appearances it seemed as though he had tried to fix the fire, for the draft was on, and a bright fire was burning.
The Coroner was notified and arrived in the evening. On questioning a number of witnesses he decided an inquest was not necessary. Mr. Nichols' wife died a number of years ago, and a daughter, Mrs. Albert Jacobs, also preceded him in death; a son died in infancy.
Funeral arrangements have not been made, pending the arrival or communications from two daughters, Verl, of St. Louis, Mo., and Ruth, of Gary, Indiana. Undertaker Jos. F. Koerner of Cullom, took charge of the body.
Funeral services were held from the Kempton M. E. Church this afternoon at 2 o'clock.
Alonzo E. Nichols, son of Samuel C. and Almeda Nichols was born near Bellflower, McLean County, Illinois. He was united in marriage to Annie Homan, 12-21-1893. To this union were born the four children.
Burial was in Kempton Hill Burial Park.
