William is the son of James and Sarah Adair.
He is a brother to John A., Opha E., Erma H., Charles, Robin, and James Adair.
He married Ruby E. Dial, the daughter of William Dial and Edith Pruden, on 16 June 1909 in Spokane, Washington. Their son is James Dial Adair.
He was a Spokane, Washington city fireman in 1917.
He was a brakeman for OWRN, living in Markham, Bonner, Idaho with his parents and son, in 1920.
He was a service station proprietor in Roseburg, Douglas, Oregon in 1930.
He married Amy Dell Rose, the daughter of Frank and Rose Rose, on 7 May 1921 in Roseburg, Oregon. Their children are James, Jack, and Donna.
He came to Oregon in 1920, and was in numerous businesses, originating Roseburg Sand & Gravel; manager of Pierce Auto Freight Lines; equipment supervisor for Roseburg Lumber; and owner with his son Jack of Adair Parking and U-Haul Rentals.He served as a Roseburg city councilman for 13 years and on the Selective Service Board. He was a member of the First Methodist Church, a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge, Hillah Shrine, Odd Fellow, Rebekahs, and honorary member of the WCTU.
