Michael Lee Beattie, 54, passed away suddenly Sunday, December 26, 2010 at Freeman Hospital, Joplin, MO. He was born November 7, 1956 to Joe Arthur Beattie and Kathryn Louise Schroeder Beattie in Tulsa, Ok. He married Penny Jo Anna Laflen on December 28, 1979 in Moundville, MO.

Mike attended schools in Washington, Mo, Tulsa, Ok, and Kaysville, UT. He graduated from Missouri Southern State College in May, 1982. He worked in the Joplin area at Commerce Bank, Ozark Airlines, Southwest Missouri Bank, and Miracle Recreation in Monett, MO.

Mike enjoyed watching Bronaugh basketball, particularly when his four nephews were playing. He was also a die hard Arizona Cardinals fan from the time that they were in St. Louis to their present location in Arizona. Golf was a family tradition with Mike. He learned to golf from his father, Grandmother Schroeder, and his Aunt Ramona. He throughly enjoyed golfing with his brother-in-laws: Bob, Herb, and John, and especially with his four nephews. Mike loved to travel through the various states--with his golf clubs along for the ride!!

In addition to his wife of 30 years, he is survived by his two brothers: Joe and his wife Jeanne Beattie of Tulsa, OK, and Paul and his wife Janna Beattie of Edwardsville, IL, many brothers-and sisters-in laws, 21 nieces and nephews, two childhood friends (Daryl Fleer and Michael Kitchen), and numerous other good friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Kathryn Beattie, two aunts: Ramona McClain and Helen Freidrichs. He will be greatly missed by all of his family, friends, and co-workers.
