Rueter Residents--Funeral services for Henry Moore Ford, one of two persons who died Friday as the result of burns suffered in home fires, will be at 2 p.m. today in the Johnson School, near Kissee Mills, with the Rev. Adah Maggard officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of the Forsyth Funeral Home.
The 83-year-old Rueter man died about 12:30 p.m. Friday when fire broke out in his home, according to Taney County sheriff's deputies. A neighbor, Roy Bonner, told officers he was driving past the Ford residence when he noticed the house on fire.
Bonner opened the door but the flames gushed out in his face, officers said, and he was unable to go inside to help Ford, who was bedfast. One of the two dogs in the house ran outside when the door was opened, but the other animal died in the fire, which was blamed on an overheated wood-burning stove.
Ford is survived by a son, Cletus, of the home, and a sister, Mrs. Bessie Cardwell, also of Rueter. (Springfield Leader and Press, Springfield, Missouri, 21 Dec 1969, Sun, page 74)
