ABBOTT, BENJAMIN R. — Benjamin R. Abbott, son of Raymond E. and Goldie B. Clownhorse Abbott, was born on June 28, 1961, in Scottsbluff, Neb. He passed away on August 17, 1980, at 3:10 a.m., at the Lincoln General hospital as a result of a traffic accident near Lincoln. He was 19 years of age.
Ben lived in Grand Island for two years and from 1971 until 1979 made his home in Geneva. For a short time he lived in Omaha and at the time of his death was living in Lincoln where he worked for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus as a lawn keeper.
He graduated from the Geneva public school system in 1978 and participated on the Geneva track team.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Goldie Bernice Clownhorse and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Ben (Fanny) Clownhorse, and one niece and one nephew.
He is survived by his father, Raymond E. Abbott of Belle Fourche, S.D.; his mother, Mrs. Donna M. Abbott of Lincoln; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Abbott of Camp Crook, Neb.; and maternal grandfather Ben Clownhorse of Scottsbluff; brothers John of Lincoln, Warren of Exeter, and Russell of Lincoln; sisters, Mrs. Gary (Diana) Kapperman of Geneva, Georgetta Hagihara of Lexington, Dawn and Laurie Abbott of Lincoln; great-grandparents, Clara Magee of Geneva, Mrs. Mary Hendrickson of Deadwood, S.D., and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hendrickson Sr. of Milford; foster-mother, Louise Tillford of Omaha; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted from the United Methodist church in Geneva at 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 20, 1980, with Rev. Jay Funk officiating.
Mrs. Judy Ackland accompanied Dan Petersen who sang, “How Great Thou Art,” “The Lord’s Prayer,” and “Amazing Grace.”
Pallbearers were Charles Barbur Jr., Doug Fisher, Tim Emal, Charles Conway, Paul Fox and Steve Crabtree.
Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
