Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at Center Point for Joseph Eugene Archer, 23, who died late Tuesday at the home of his parents, Mr and Mrs C.S. Archer, after a lingering illness. Young Archer was stricken with infantil paralysis last September and was brave and valiant till the end.
The young man was a native of Kerr County and had made his home in Center Point for the past few years. He was a graduate of Tivy High School in 1928 and attended the University of Texas in Austin. He would have received his degree this spring had he been able to continue his studies. He was a brilliant student and worked his way through school.
Rev Rex M Wilkerson of Center Point conducted the funeral services which were held in the Center Point Cemetery under the direction of Peterson Funeral Home. Pallbearers were a group of young men in Center Point who had ministered to the young man during his long illness and included Sid Rees, Wilson McElroy, Ralph Bishop, Sammy Powell, Bruce McElroy and Mitchell Moore.
