Frieda Maybelle Adams, daughter of Fred Martin and Nannie Maybelle Myers Schnieder, was born June 13, 1917, in Mayview, Missouri. She departed this life Tuesday, March 7, 2006, in her home, in Camdenton, Missouri, at the age of eighty-eight years, eight months, and twenty-two days.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter; an infant son; a grandson, Rusty Adams; and a sister, Helen Barker.
Frieda is survived by a daughter, Venita Jones, and her husband, Timothy, of Camdenton, Missouri; a son, Jerry Adams, and his wife, Carolyn, of Branch, Missouri; four grandchildren, Glenn K. Adams, of Camdenton, Missouri, Kelly D. Jones, of Union, Missouri, Michael S. Adams, and his wife, Becky, of Camdenton, Missouri, and Kyle Jones, and his wife, Colleen, of Washington, Missouri; eight great-grandchildren, Anna, Lynsee, Aaron, and Cassandra Adams, Melinda, Buddy, and Tyler Jones, and Jaime Sanchez, and her husband, Jason; three great-great-grandchildren, Isabella, Jason, Jr., and Adrianna; a sister, Isabell Day, of Odessa, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised in Odessa, Missouri, and attended school there. She continued to make her home in Odessa until 1951 when she moved to Wichita, Kansas. Then, in 1957, she moved to Camdenton, Missouri, where she lovingly raised her children. Besides being a devoted homemaker to her family, she worked at a dime store in Camdenton, at the IGA Store, and the school store in the Camdenton High School. She also owned the Camdenton Court and ran the old Harwood Hotel at one time.
Frieda had made her profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Camdenton.
She was a talented seamstress and had done sewing for people across the area for many years. Among her many creations were several outstanding wedding dresses and the first cheerleading uniforms for the Camdenton High School. In her spare time she enjoyed working in her garden where she grew many beautiful flowers and delicious vegetables. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren.
Frieda was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends.
Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2006 in the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. until service time. Graveside service and burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 11, 2006, in the Buckner Hill Cemetery, Buckner, Missouri. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri.
