Funeral services for Ragna L. Squyres Burnett, 83, of Huntington will be held Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at 11:30 a.m. in the Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Brother Larry Innerarity and Brother Carl Ray Walker officiating. Interment will follow in the Carrell Cemetery.
Mrs. Burnett was born May 21, 1922 in the Fairview Community, Angelina County, Texas, to the late Effie Coker Read and Clint Squyres, and died Sunday, April 23, 2006 in a local hospital. Mrs. Burnett resided in Huntington most of her life, and was a homemaker. She had been a member of the Lala Hill Baptist Church since 1939 and had served as church clerk, a Sunday School teacher, and was very active in WMU for many years.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, David and May Ellon Burnett of Lufkin and Doyle and Lucille Burnett of Huntington; daughter and son-in-law, Claudia and Tom McKenzie of Huntington; grandson, Alan Burnett of Lufkin; grandsons and wives, Tim and Linda Burnett of Huntington and James and Cortney McKenzie of Marble Falls; granddaughters and husbands, Katrina and William Wade of Zavalla, Dacia and Sid Ballow of Nacogdoches and Dawn and Edgar Giles of Cypress; step-granddaughter, Ranleigh McAdams of Lufkin; step-grandson, Shaun McAdams of San Diego, California; step-grandson and wife, Erick and Kim McAdams of Melbourn, Florida; nine great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Theo and Norman Blewer of Lufkin; brother and sister-in-law, John F. and Barbara Squyres of Cypress; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Squyres of Cordova, Tennessee and Helen Marcell Burnette of Huntington; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hollis Burnett; grandson, Pat Burnett; brother, C.R. "Bob" Squyres; and sister, Edna Mae Havard.
Pallbearers will be Alan Burnett, Tim Burnett, James McKenzie, Sid Ballow, David LaLonde and Edgar Giles. Honorary pallbearers will be Colten Burnett, Stephen Burnett, Chris LaLonde, Chris Wade, Jason Collins and Robert Vaughn.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Carrell Cemetery Association, 303 Smith, Huntington, Texas 75949. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Huntington. Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home, Huntington, directors.
