Brad L. Barrett, age 52, Carl Junction, passed away at 5:27 a.m. Saturday, May 8, 2010 from injuries he sustained in an accident on highway 171, north of Carl Junction.

Brad was born July 27, 1957 in Springfield, Missouri to Beverly Rae Woodson and the late Charles Edward Barrett. Raised in Gentry, Arkansas he lived in the Carl Junction area since 1994.

For over 29 years he worked as a railroad engineer for both Frisco Railroad from 1976 until 1989 and Kansas City Southern Railway from 1994 to present. He was a member of Teamsters Union; Carl Junction Lodge # 526, AF & AM; and BLET #527.

During his spare time, Brad enjoyed drawing and making leather goods and kept busy by working in his yard. Brad also acquired his pilot’s license and loved to fly and always bragged about his daughter, Rinda.

Brad married Rita Kay Remington on December 6, 1995. She survives at the home.

Additional survivors include a son, John T. Ogle, Carthage; one daughter, Rinda K. Robinson, Carl Junction; his mother, Beverly Clark, Carthage; two sisters, Bonnie Henry and her husband, John, Rogers, Arkansas, Mary Beth Guzman and her husband, Tony, St. John, Kansas; one brother, Mike Barrett and his wife, Jana, Gentry, Arkansas; three grandchildren; and 13 nieces and nephews.

Services will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Bob Simon will officiate. Masonic rites will be cited at service time. Interment will follow in Avilla Cemetery, Avilla, Missouri. Pallbearers will be Steve Allgood, Carl Brandon, Jim Bates, Floyd Ellison, Tom Asbell, and Richard Fowler. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Parker Mortuary.
