Vera Alice Benson, age 96, of Huntsville, AL, passed away on June 16, 2016 at Donalson Care Center. She was born on November 4, 1919 in Madison County, AL. She was the youngest of twelve children born to the late William Bradford Alexander and Margaret Ella Omohundro Benson. She grew up on the Benson farm and moved to Huntsville with her sister Rosa after she graduated from New Market High School.

Vera worked for many years in the Provost Marshal Office at the US Army Missile Command at Redstone Arsenal. After her retirement, Vera was an avid genealogy researcher and enjoyed visiting cemeteries, courthouse offices, and libraries to gather information for the family history. Her ancestry research came to an end when she became unable to continue her activities because of her health problems. Vera was moved to the Donalson Care Center on June 15, 2013 where she received excellent care until her death.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, William R. (Willie) Benson, Rufus Daniel Benson, Alfred Clayton Benson, Roy Edgar Benson, Ella Frances Benson Easterwood, Emma Louise Benson, Marvin McKinley Benson, Fred Carlyle Benson, Rosa Mae Benson and Vernon (Jack) Benson.

Vera was never married and is survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
