Citizen Died at
Shawmut Friday
Mr. E. A. Akins, aged 81, died at his home in Shawmut Friday night, Feb. 27th at 8 o'clock.
Mr. Akin suffered a stroke of apoplexy about ten days ago and grew gradually weaker until death came.
He had resided at Shawmut about threwnty-three years, coming to the Valley from Tallassee.
He is survived by three sons, John, Mark, and Tom Akin; three daughters, Misses Susie and Fannie Akin and Mrs. C. J. Strother, all of Shawmut. His wife preceded him in death about fifteen years.
Funeral services were held at the Shawmut Baptist church at 3 P.M. Sunday, March 1st. Rev. Mr. House, of Phenix City, officiating, assisted by Rev. Earl Trent and Rev. M. W. McCain, and interment was at the Shawmut cemetery. Schnedl-Jones, funral directors in charge.
