Jobe Joseph Alexander was born February 28, 1899, on a farm in rural Lawrence County, Mississippi to Minnie Alice Couch and Toney Alexander.

He came to California with his parents and siblings when he was a young lad. The family settled on a ranch in a remote area referred to as Pine Log, located north of Columbia and south of the Stanislaus River. There the family survived off the land and the pelts and hides of a variety of wild animals they caught and killed.

As a husband and father, Jobe worked as a foreman for the Jamestown-Angels Camp railroad spur at Carson Hill.

He was preceded in death by his first daughter, 8 day old Adeline Cecila Alexander, on June 15, 1921, and a newborn son on February 8, 1928, who was the twin of his youngest daughter.

He was survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Souza Alexander, of Carson Hill, daughters, Adeline Alexander Frye, Florence Alexander Kahn and Mary Madeline (Marie) Starr, and a sister, Ruth Cynthia Alexander Kress.

His second daughter, also named Adeline Cecila, was born September 7, 1922, and passed away in Tillamook County, Oregon August 26, 1997. She was married to Erwin Frye.

His newborn baby son is buried on the Azevedo ranch in Tuttletown, now owned by another party.

His daughter, Florence Virginia Alexander Kahn, was born March 23, 1926, and passed away April 14, 1997, in Calaveras County at the age of 71.

Cousin Jobe, may you continue to play the piano in heaven, and may all your songs become hits.
