Sarah Jane (or Jennie) Griffith was born about 1855 in Warrington, Buckinghamshire, England. She was probably the daughter of Peter and Sarah Griffith. She married Robert Robinson Heap (son of Jonathan Heap and Hannah Robinson of Manchester). Robert ran the Salisbury Family and Commercial Hotel located at Trafford Road in Salford. He also established Heap's Sanitary Works at 13 Park Street in Greenheys. The Heaps had four children named Carrie (Mrs. Edward William Castle), Amy (Mrs. Thomas Henry Stephenson), Robert Percy, and Kenneth.
