We are saddened by the passing of Nonabah D. Begay, wife of USMC WWII Navajo Code Talker Thomas H. Begay, on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at the Gallup Indian Medical Center in Gallup, NM.
Nonabah was an avid and longtime supporter of the Navajo Code Talkers Association. She was renown for her singing of the USMC Hymn in Navajo.
Her family has set up a donation account with Wells Fargo Bank. If you'd like to make a donation, you can go to any Wells Fargo bank and tell them you would like to donate to the "Thomas H. Begay for Nonabah" Account and they will accept the donation.
The following arrangements have been made for Friday, April 12th: A family / community gathering will be the Gallup Lions Club at 5:00 p.m.
Funeral service for Nonabah will be on Monday, April 15, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Cathedral, 415 E. Green Avenue, Gallup, NM 87301.
Burial is at the family burial plot located in Chi Chil-Tah, NM (approximately 25 miles Southwest of Gallup, NM).
A reception will follow at the Red Rock State Park located in Churchrock, NM starting at approximately 2:00 p.m.
Floral arrangements are accepted through the Flower Basket, 301 E Coal Avenue, Gallup, NM 87301.
