Martin Allison was born in Richmond, West Virginia, March 17, 1837 and departed this life on May 20, 1913, aged 76 years, 2 months and 29 days at the home of his son near Rosalie. He grew to manhood in West Virginia and later moved with his parents to Wabash, Indiana. In 1895 he was married to Mahala J. Sailors and to this union were born six children, Ott of Rosalie, Ira of Hamburg, Iowa, Mrs. Cunningham of Lyclo, Neb., and Mrs. N. H. Zuck of Hamburg, Iowa. Leatha and Jimmie dieing in infancy. In the fall of 1869, he moved to Richardson county Neb., residing there until 1885 when the family located in Hitchcock county, in 1899 he came to Bancroft but only remaining there short time but returning to Hitchcock county, where his wife died Sept. 6, 1907.
The deceased has made his home the past six years with his son, Ott of Rosalie, who with his sister Mrs. Zuck were the only children present at the funeral.
The funeral services were held at the M. E. church Wednesday morning at 11:30 a.m. Conducted by Rev. W. T. Harris. The body, accompanied by Mr. Allison and Mrs. Zuck was taken to Palisade, Neb., for burial beside his wife, who preceeded him some six years ago.
The sympathy of the community goes out to the bereaved ones in their sad affliction.
Mr. Allison was a kindly man easily making loyal friends essentially a lovable man. Bowing before the providence of God, we can only say:
A precious one from us has gone
A voice we loved is stilled;
A place is vacant in our home,
Which never can be filled.
God, in his wisdom has recalled
The boon his love has given.
And tho the body slumbers here
The soul is safe in Heaven.

The body of Martin Allison, who died recently at the home of his son, Ott Allison, at Rosalie, Neb., arrived in Palisade last Thursday. The deceased was a pioneer of this section where he lived for many years until two years ago when here moved with his son to his present location. The remains were met at the depot by a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends and interment was had at the Rising Sun cemetery. The body was accompanied by the son Ott, and a daughter, Mrs. Zuck, of Hamburg, Ia., who returned to their homes Friday.
