James Earl Curry passed away June 9, 2014, in Salt Lake City, UT of natural causes. Born July 7, 1940 in Ft. Duchesne, UT, to Reginald Oran Curry and Dora Sprouse Curry, he spent his younger years in the Uintah Basin, where he made many friends. He met his future sweetheart, Elaine Angus, in the sixth grade, resulting in a marriage that lasted fifty-one years.
Jim is survived by his loving wife Elaine; children Janet (Mitch) Romo, Kristine Curry, Jeffrey (Miguel) Curry, Scott Curry, Kaylene (James) Young, Karalyn (Bobby) Woodbury and Raymond Leary; eleven grandchildren; sisters Gwennita Showalter, Dianne (Don) Brock, and Rebecca Curry. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, cousins, and countless friends whom he considered to be part of his family.
Though Jim had several health issues throughout the last decade, he was quick to show kindness and he loved his life. He leaves behind a legacy of compassion and service, and a strong testimony of his Savior. This legacy helps those left behind find comfort in knowing we will see him again.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 14, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., at the Stansbury Park South Stake Center, 240 East Interlochen Lane, Stansbury Park, UT.
Viewings will be held Friday, June 13 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Tate Mortuary, 110 South Main Street, Tooele, UT, and prior to services from 9:30 -10:30 a.m. at the church.
