Three men were shot and killed at Le Rose, Owsley county, last Sunday afternoon. The dead are Tom Wilson, Wiley Bowling and Clint Caudill. Bowling fired two shots at Caudill, striking him in the left shoulder and in the stomach. Caudill fell to the ground and drew his pistol and shot Bowling five times, killing him instantly. Caudill lived until ten o'clock Monday morning.

Wilson was shot and killed instantly by John Estep. Wilson had knocked Willie Long down for using abusive language around his house. Estep took sides with Long and shot Wilson twice.

Wilson was once town marshal of Jackson and Beattyville, and moved to Le Rose a short time ago. Wilson was a son of Robert Wilson, and leaves a wife and one child.

Bowling was a son of Mack Bowling. Caudell was a son of Allen Caudill and leaves a wife and one child.

Caudill and Bowling were buried in the Le Rose grave yard and the remains of Wilson were taken to Booneville for interment.

Estep has been arrested and placed in jail. Estep claims justification. He was sober, but the others were drunk at the time of the killing. They were all within twenty feet of each other when the shooting began. This makes five men killed at Le Rose within the past six months.

Owsley county has always been considered a law-biding county.
