S/O Owen Cooper (1768-1868) and Sarah Ward (1771-1830)Cuba Patriot, Cuba. NY, Friday, 17 May 1878. Mr Zera Cooper, whose mysterious disappearance was noticed last week, was found on Saturday (May, 11th), last, by some boys who were fishing in the creek in the town of Greenwood (Stueuben County, New York). His body was taken up and brought back to Phillips Creek, and interred near where he had lived.
He went from Mr Lanphear's (Belmont, NY) to Wellsville, through the kindness of Pat Sarafield, obtaining a ride. When found, he was in about 18 inches of water,drowned, thus ended his life.
It was in an earlier article (10 May 1878) in the Cuba Patriot that it was Friday, 3 May 1878, that he was last seen leaving the home of Mr David Lanphear, Belmont.
