Services were held Sunday, October 9, at 1:00 p.m., at Moab Church with Sister Williams officiating. Burial was in Moab Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home, Giddings.
Mittie Cox was bom February 25, 1898, in Lexington, Lee County, Texas, the daughter of Mintie (Green) and Hamilton Mitchell, She was married to James
Cox on December 25, 1919. She was a housewife.
She is survived by one daughter, Willie Mac Cox of Houston; one granddaughter, Joyce Farmer of Los
Angeles, California; two sisters, Baritha Luc Cooper of Lincoln, and Laura Milton of Bastrop; Two
brothers, Harvey Mitchell of Lincoln, and Hamilton Mitchell, Jr. of Elgin; One aunt, Tonseta Bolden;
and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Cox (1955); her son, John Willis Cox: and daughter, May Etta Cox.
