Dr. Andrews Dies of Heart Attack

Retired Methodist Minister, Former College Head Dies While Driving

Greensboro, March 10 - (AP) - Dr. Robert Macon Andrews, 76, retired Methodist minister and former president of High Point College, died at 3 p.m. today of a heart attack suffered while driving his automobile along a street here. Dr. Andrews was retired in 1942 but during the war accepted pastorates while young ministers were in military service. He was placed on full retirement last fall at a meeting of the Western North Carolina Methodist Conference at Asheville. His last charge was Mr. Pleasant Church near Greensboro. Dr. Andrews taught public school before entering the ministry in the Methodist Protestant church in Burlington in 1896. He served as president of the Methodist Protestant Conference for two terms and as president of High Point College from 1924-1926. Among the charges he served were Enfield, West End Methodist church here and 10 years as pastor of Grace Methodist Church, Greensboro.

"Surviving are his wife, his daughters Rosalie Andrews of Raleigh, who is connected with the North Carolina Education Association, Mrs. Dallas Clark of Salisbury and Dorothea Andrews who is a reporter on the Washington Post, Washington, D.C.; three sisters Mrs. Osborne Pickard, Mrs. Graham Ray and Mary Ella Andrews all of Burlington and three grandchildren.

"Funeral rites will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Grace Methodist Church."
