Joe, a resident of Chimayo, was predeceased by his parents Jose and Carmen Perez; daughter Annette B. Avila; father and mother-in-law, Ramon & Pablita Jaramillo; grandparents Antonio and Elicia Vaila; aunts and uncles who Joe grew up with: David, Ofelio Domecilla, Arcenia, Charley, and Maria.
Joe was survived by his wife Cleo J. Avila; daughter Barbara Avila; son John T. Avila; granddaughter Angelica (husband Jamie); brother and sister-in-law, Samuel Jaramillo and Emma Trujillo; step-granddaughters: Cloudy, Desi and Angel; cousins: Bobby Naranjo, Dave Avila, and Josie Bernal; and many other loved ones.
Jose was a wonderful husband and father. He will be missed.
Public visitation and devotional service were on 17 Nov 2016 at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Memorial Mass was on 18 Nov 2016 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo. Burial followed in El Potrero Cemetery in Chimayo. Pallbearers: Paul Gonzales, Matthew Martinez, Nick Pino, Orlando M. Martinez, Alphonso Martinez and Michael Vigil.
