Vi lost her family early in her life and was raised by relatives. She was shipped around quite a bit and not always treated as a child deserves. She married Carl Burgoon in 1930 and, shortly thereafter, they left Kansas and traveled to Northern Minnesota. Nine children and a lot of hard work followed, but she met any challenge that came her way. She also worked as a chef, quilted, loved to go to garage sales, and babysat grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Viola left a legacy of 100+ family members who loved her.
