MR. ALLEN
GRIFFIN, Ga. -- Mr. Jimmie P. Allen, 85, of Griffin, formerly of Valley, died Tuesday, May 25, 1999, at Christian Ministries Hospice in Griffin.
Graveside services are scheduled for Thursday, May 27 at 11 a.m. at Langdale Cemetery in Valley with the Rev. Bill Williams officiating.
Mr. Allen is survived by his wife, Emma Lee Davis Allen of Griffin; his daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Mike Lashley of Griffin; two grandchildren, Jason Morrow and Christy Ridley, both of Rome, Ga.; his great-grandson, Zachary Morrow of Rome; and two sisters, Exa Rearden of Valley and Sara Mann of LaFayette.
Born June 23, 1913, in Chambers County, Ala., Mr. Allen was of the Methodist faith. He was the son of the late Dora Louella Hall Allen and Paul Benely Allen. Mr. Allen was a retired employee of WestPoint Pepperell's Langdale Mill in Valley with 48 years of service. He served in the United States Army during World War II.
The family will be at 6410 21st Place in Valley and will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. at McCarthy Funeral Home in West Point.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Christian Ministries Hospice, 121 W. College St., Griffin, Ga. 30224 or to Langdale First United Methodist Church in Valley in memory of Mr. Allen.
McCarthy Funeral Home in West Point is handling arrangements.
