JACKSONVILLE - James E BROWNING, 51, OF of Cairo, Ill, died Wednesday at Cairo, Ill. after a brief illness. Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Roebuck-Greenlawn Chapel. Burial will be in Landers Cemetery near Jacksonville.
Mr. Browning is survived by his wife, Mrs. Hazel Dyer Browning of Cairo, Ill.; a son,Bobby Browning of Opelika; a daughter, Cherie Browning of Cairo, Ill., his father, H. Landers Browning of New Liberty community; a brother, Wayne Browning of Meridian, Miss.;and a sister, Mrs. Wynella Carpenter of Jacksonville.
Mr. Browning was plant manager for Opelika Manufacturing, a division of M. Snower County He was a member of Cairo Baptist Church. He was Exalted Ruler of Elks Lodge 651. He was a member of the Police and Fire Commission of Cairo and chairman of the board of Camelot School in Cairo. He was an auxiliary policeman with the Cairo Police Department. He was a native of Jacksonville and a veteran of World War 11.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to Camelot School in Cairo. The body will lie at Roebock-Greenlawn Funeral Home from noon Sunday (sic -Saturday, January 3) until time of services. Funeral services in Cairo will be Saturday at 11 a.m.
