Mildred Louise(Mielke) Christensen, the daughter of Henry and Ella (Schultz) Mielke, was born July 31,1913 in Morgan Twp., Redwood County, Minnesota. She was baptized, confirmed and married at St. John's Lutheran Church in Morgan. Mildred married Vernon Christensen on September 17, 1947. They farmed in Brookville Township until November of 1977 when they made their home in Morgan. In January of 2004 she moved to Countryside Apartments in Sleepy Eye and to Sleepy Eye Care center in August of 2009.
Mildred was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years and was active in the ELCW and quilting groups. She was also a member of Gil-mor Auxiliary and Morgan Senior Citizens. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, baking and spending time with family and friends.
Mildred is survived by two daughters, Diane (Roger) Beyer of Plymouth and Cheryl Christensen of St. Louis Park; son Keith (Deb) Christensen of rural Morgan and daughter-in-law Karen Christensen of Morgan, including seven grandchildren: Kyle and Tanya, Mark and Ann, Ryan, Brycen and Janell, Luke, Jen and Judd Walter and Alexis Beyer and nine great grandchildren: Carter, Chloe, Noah, Eli, Isaac, Austin, Tim, Miranda and Will. Also surviving are two sisters, Martha and husband Loren Raddatz of rural Morgan and Alice Lange of Lamberton; sister-in-law Melva Christensen of Springfield and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Vernon in 1978, two sons, Calvin and Darvin and John her infant brother; sister Lydia Madsen and her husband Marvin, and brother-in-law
Gerald Lange.
