He married Margie Moore on February 3, 1962 at Atoka, they had 37 years together before she preceded him in death on March 8, 1999. John was a retired Pentecostal preacher. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, buying, selling and trading.
SURVIVED BY 5 CHILDREN, 15 Grandchildren, 11 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, 5 SIBLINGS, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
