James A. Charnley, a resident of Ontonagon died at Ontonagon Memorial hospital August 18, 1930.
Mr. Charnley was born June l7,1867 in Milwaukee. At the age of a year & a half he moved with his family to Newport where he resided a number of years moving to Manawa, Wi., from there to Ontonagon where he lived the balance of his life.
He married Ellen Scott, Jan. 1888. They had 4 children, Hiram, Kenneth, Arnold & Catherine.
Mrs. Charnley died January 1912.
On November 14, 19ll he married Elizabeth Scheck of this village.
Mr. Charnley was operated on for appendix at the Ontonagon Memorial Hospital about 2 weeks ago. He recovered from the operation but due to a weak heart he died 8/18/1930.
He is survived by his widow, 3 sons, Hiram - Ontonagon, Kenneth - Detroit & Arnold - Hartford City, Indiana & 1 daughter, Mrs. George Johnson - Detroit , 2 brothers Alfred - Sturgeon Bay & Donald - Seattle & 2 sisters., Mrs. C. W. Fletcher - Realton, Wis., & Mrs. James Ryan - Milwaukee.
He was a member of the Odd Fellows 7 the Modern Woodsman of America, both organizations attended in a body.
Burial in the Evergreen Cemetery.
