Louise Freitag Gilbertson , 93, of Mankato and formerly of Nicollet, died Sunday, August 1, 2004, at the Hillcrest Health Care Center in Mankato.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 4, 2004 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mankato with Pastor Wayne Eichstadt officiating.

Burial will be in the Green Lawn Cemetery, rural Nicollet.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Nicollet and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Wednesday.

Louise is survived by her son, Bennie W. Gilbertson and his wife, Ellen, of Mankato; grandchildren, Jeffrey Gilbertson and his wife, Lori, Sherri Iddings and her husband, Robert, all of Mankato; great-grandchildren, Lyndsy, Kari and Jeremy Gilbertson, Alisa Iddings, and Sara and Nick Thompson; a brother, Harold Freitag and his wife, Margaret, of Nicollet and a sister-in-law, Leona Freitag of Gaylord; and by nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ludwig and Louise Freitag; her husband, Bennie E. Gilbertson on October 14, 1982; and a brother, Walter Freitag.

Louise A. Freitag, the daughter of Ludwig and Louise (Hermel) Freitag, was born on April 21, 1911, in Nicollet Township, Nicollet County. She was united in marriage to Bennie E. Gilbertson on May 21, 1934. After marriage they farmed in Courtland Township, Nicollet County for forty-five years before moving to Nicollet in 1978. Louise had worked at Johnson Reel in Mankato for seventeen years before retiring in 1973. She was a former member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Nicollet. In the early 2000's she moved to Mankato to be closer to her family. She was currently a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mankato.
