She entered the Ursuline Sisters of Chatham, Ontario in 1950. During her religious life she served as teacher in Windsor, Ridgetown, Watford, Parkhill, Bradford and UrsulineCollege, Chatham. In 1962 along with three other sisters, Sister Mary Teresa opened a mission in Peru where she served as teacher and principal. From 1973 to 1981 she was a member of the Ursuline General Leadership. From 1981 to 1985 Sister was a parish worker at Immaculate Conception Church, Stratford. From 1985 to 1993 she was General Superior of the Ursuline Community. From 1994 to 1999 she worked as the Executive Secretary of the Canadian Religious Conference for Ontario. In 2000, she moved to Chatham and continued to serve on various committees within the community until 2003. She is predeceased by her sister, Sister Anne Antaya, CSJ. She is survived by her sister Eileen and Roger Duchene and several nieces and nephews.
