Robert Bradford Alexander of East Bridgewater died on January 12, 2017 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. He was the loving husband of the late Barbara (West) Alexander, son of the late Andrew Jackson Bradford and Laura (Aldrich-Wentworth) Alexander, and brother of the late Richard W. Alexander.

Born June 24th 1926, Robert lived his entire life in East Bridgewater, but traveled extensively for the service, for work, and with family. In 1944, Mr. Alexander graduated from EB High School, completed his first semester at Tufts University, and enlisted in the Naval Air Corps. After his honorable discharge in 1946, he completed his studies at Tufts in 1949. "Bob" was elected to EB's first Planning Board from 1952-1962, the EB School Committee from 1961-1967, spent 6 years on the Central School Addition Committee, an EB Selectman from 1980-1983, appointed to the EB Housing Board by Governor Weld, and he was Chairman of the EB Republican Town Committee for 29 years. Robert was a member of 4H, American Unitarian Youth, a Charter Member of the EB Lion's Club, a Master Mason at the Satucket Lodge A.F&A.M. for 70 years, a member of Scottish Rite, and both a long-standing proprietor and trustee as well as Chairman of the Board of the EB Central Cemetery Corporation. "Bob" played basketball, baseball, hockey, swam, rowed, and especially loved golf. He was also a percussionist and a jitterbug dancer. He ended his 4-decade career in the pharmaceutical industry as the Northeast Regional Manager for Glaxo.

Robert is survived by his children, Robert B. Alexander Jr. of Bangor, Maine, Russell W. Alexander of Rochester, and Lynne W. Alexander Barton; grandfather of Russell M. Alexander, Mark L. Alexander, Joy C. Keane, Sarah L. Hetman, Scott Gill-Alexander, Paul Barton, and Duncan A.F. Barton. Also survived by his great grandchildren, Anden and Pierce Keane, and Brandon and Quentin Alexander.

A Funeral Service will be held
at First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church, 50 School St., Bridgewater. Visitation will be held at the Prophett-Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 35 Spring St., East Bridgewater. A Masonic Service by the Puritan Lodge will be held for Robert during the visitation Interment in Central Cemetery.
