Civil War Union Army Soldier. He was mustered in as a Private in Company H, 12th Kansas Volunteer Infantry on September 30, 1862. He served until honorably mustered out on August 6, 1865.

On June 6, 1880 he filed for a US Army Invalid Veteran Pension (Application #391816, Certificate #774399)

On April 21, 1911 his wife, Sarah E. Rockwell, filed for a US Army Widow's Pension (Application #963278, Certificate #723132).

Husband of Sarah Evaline (Ellis) Rockwell(20 Jun 1849-27 Mar 1936.

Founder of Rockwell Cemetery for son Corbie. Cemetery on corner of Rockwell homestead. Wife is interred at Rockwell Cemetery along with following children, may be more. Corbie 1892-1892, Martha Rockwell Bradley(20 may 1883-28 Jun 1981),Phoebe Rockwell Powers(1 Apr 1974-31 Aug 19490.
