Corporal, a member of Headquarters and Signals Squadron, Canadian Forces based at Valcartier, Québec. Aged 23, Cpl Déziel was born in Greenfield Park, QC and joined the military in October 2006. A signals operator, he served a tour of duty in Afghanistan in 2009.

Cpl Déziel died after falling from the roof of a building at CFB Valcartier. He was in the process of installing a telecommunications antenna when the apparent accident occurred. The incident is under investigation and no further details will be released at this time.

The commander of the 5th Canadian Mechanized Brigade said, "This young soldier who served a tour in Afghanistan had a resoundingly promising career ahead of him in the Canadian Forces. His unexpected and premature death represents a profound loss to our organization."

Cpl Déziel leaves behind his parents Mario and Sylvie, sisters Vanessa (Sébastien) and Anne-Marie, brother Vincent, grandmother Jeanne-D'Arc Gilbert, childhood friend Eric Thériault, along with other relatives, friends and military colleagues.

Funeral with full military honours was held on January 22, 2011 at l'église Saint-Hubert in St-Hubert, South Shore of Montréal.
