York Patterson, his wife Frances Patterson (Lovitta / Lovett) and their two sons Arthur and York Albert Patterson settled in the 1890's on the South side of Cotton Creek about two and one-half miles North of Copan and one-half East. They were Cherokee Freedmen.
When the Indian Territory was surveyed and the freedmen were given allotments, Francis Patterson and their son's were allotted land where they lived.
