He was born to his parents Gaspar Rivera and Antonia Ortiz Rivera on February 25, 1935 in El Pueblo, NM. He was a lifelong Catholic and a member of the San Miguel Del Vado Parish in San Miguel, NM.
He was business owner, cattle rancher, farmer, Uranium Miner in Grants, NM, heavy equipment operator for San Miguel County, and former Mayordomo of the San Antonio Church in El Pueblo, NM.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife: Claudia Maria Rivera, son: Rusty Rivera, brothers: Paul and Manuel Rivera, sister: Josie Chavez.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at 9:00 am also at the San Miguel Del Vado Church with Father George V. Salazar as celebrant. Interment will follow at El Pueblo Cemetery in El Pueblo, NM with the following serving as Casket Bearers, Carlos Rivera, Andrew Rivera, Mario Rivera, Adam Padilla, Matthew Duran, David Rivera, Steven Rivera and Aaron Halbig. Serving as Honorary Bearers will be all of his remaining grandchildren and great grandchildren.
