OBITUARY:
Mrs. Hettie Florence (Varner) Simmons, 66, died unexpectedly Wednesday night (March 6, 1968) at the home of her brother, William Varner, of McDowell.

She was born Sept. 24, 1901 in Highland County, a daughter of George William Varner of McDowell and the late Mrs. Sally (Botkin) Varner.

Her husband, David L. Simmons, preceded her in death.

Surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Pansy Botkin, Mrs. Cora Botkin and Mrs. Beulah Botkin, all of McDowell and Mrs. Mary Armstrong of Alexandria; a half-sister, Mrs. Bertha Turner of Mt. Sidney; a brother, William E. Varner of McDowell; a half-brother, Carl Varner, also of McDowell; and five step-children.

Funeral services will be conducted at Hiner Church of the Brethren, of which she was a member, Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jimmy Robinson officiating, assisted by the Rev. H.S. Craig. Burial will follow in the Varner family cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Obaugh Funeral Home tomorrow from 7-8 :30 p.m.

Her body will be placed in the church an hour before the service.
Active pallbearers will be Russell and Elmer Zimmerman, Wilmer, Clyde and Arvin Varner, and Roy Huffman.

Honorary pallbearers will be Hobart, William, Alvin, and Jarrett Simmons, Ray Kisamore, Junior and Glenn Botkin, Ralph and Joe Simmons, Johnny Whitecotton, Robert Atkins, Herbert Botkin, Charles W. Varner, Gene Hoover, Clement Botkin, Merlin Armstrong, Dale Harman, Robert Simmons, Sandy Hooke and Farrell Canuys.
