Evelena White Edmonds of Bane Street, South Boston died Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at Halifax Regional Hospital at the age of 80. Born in Halifax County on September 8, 1929, she was the daughter of the late James White and Lillie Easley White. She was married to the late Welford Reed Edmonds and was a member of Banister Hill Baptist Church. Mrs. Edmonds was employed by South Boston General Hospital for 35 years and later transferred to The Woodview where she retired in 1993.

Mrs. Edmonds is survived by her children, Evelena Pegram of South Boston, William Edmonds of Scottsburg and Hallie Dismuke of South Boston, six grandchildren, Darnell Pegram, Lanessa Edmonds, Jermaine Pegram, Nakisha Easley, Mashonda Richardson and Chavis Edmonds, two great grandchildren, a brother, Willie White of South Boston, three sisters, Virginia Ferrell and Annie Holt, both of South Boston and Rosa Ferguson of Halifax, a daughter-in-law, Catherine Edmonds, a son-in-law, Johnnie Dismuke, a sister-in-law, Veronica White and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral service for Mrs. Edmonds will be conducted on Friday, July 23 at 1 p.m. at Banister Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Nevell Kidd officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family is receiving friends at the home of Mrs. Hallie Dismuke, 1800 Chamberlain Street, South Boston.
