Burned in Bed woman, 46, Dies
Oil Stove Sets Covers on Fire Tuesday
Bertha Lewis Cosby, Negro, 46, died in Denison Hospital at midnight Tuesday from burns sustained when a small oil heater ignited the covers on her bed early Tuesday morning.
She had been confined to her bed because of illness, and while she was asleep the fire started. Lonnie Zea, night marshal, took her to the hospital.
Funeral arrangements have not been completed, but the body is at the Luft Funeral Home. Miss Cosby was a half-sister of Mrs. Evelyn Frye, at whose home she was staying at 1109 Broadway.
Frye is an enrollee at the local veterans CCC Camp.
