Elizabeth A. "Betty" (Ott) Alderfer died Thursday, June 30th, at her residence in Peter Becker Community in Harleysville, PA. She was the wife of the late Floyd K. Alderfer for 63 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Born in Hilltown in 1930, Betty was the daughter of the late Elmer H. and Sally A. (Leidy) Ott. She graduated from Hatfield High School in 1948 where she played softball. In 1950, Betty and Floyd were married and just a year later, Floyd began a business in Wayne called Floyd K. Alderfer Meats, which soon became Floyd K. Alderfer & Sons, Inc. Betty's first job was at the American Olean Tile Company. She took time to raise their family, drove a school bus, and then sold seafood at Floyd K. Alderfer & Sons. Betty was an active member of St. Peter's Covenant Church in Hilltown and attended services at Peter Becker Community.

Betty was a good friend to many, which included being a member of multiple Pinochle Card Clubs. She was an avid baker and anyone who was lucky enough to get a piece of her homemade cheesecake, cherry cheese pie, peach pie, cherry pie/cobbler, or white cake certainly came back for another bite. Thankfully, she created a cookbook for her family with all of these recipes and more. Betty loved spending time at her shore home in Ocean City, NJ. She especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren because family was the most important thing to her.

Betty is survived by her children: Floyd Keith Alderfer and wife, Linda L. of Harleysville; and Dawn Alderfer Powers, and husband, Leslie R. of Telford; daughter-in-law, Sue G. Alderfer (Denny); six grandchildren: Zachary R. Alderfer and wife Stephanie; Aaron K. Alderfer and wife Stephanie; Courtney A. Alderfer; Kristin E. Hanson; Gretchen E. McFarland and husband Sean; Andria L. Benes and husband Ryan; 9 great-grandchildren: Keira E. McMahon, Charlotte R. Alderfer, Carson J. Alderfer, Madelyn M. Alderfer, Abigail Elizabeth Alderfer, Daniel F. McFarland, Emily Elizabeth McFarland, Elizabeth R. Benes, and Morgan B. Benes; a sister-in-law: Mary Lou Ott (Richard); a sister-in-law: Carolyn Sue (Alderfer) Glazier and husband, Fredrick II; and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

Betty was preceded in death by husband Floyd K. Alderfer; son Denny R. Alderfer; seven brothers: Norman, Frank, Harvey, Elmer, Raymond, Paul, and Richard Ott; sister Lydia L. (Ott) Lewis; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ferrill K. and Elaine Alderfer.

Celebration of Life reception: Tuesday evening, July 5, from 6-8PM at Peter Becker Community. Viewing in the chapel then family will greet friends in the Orchid Terrace Room. Her funeral service will be Wednesday, July 6, 11:00AM, at St. Peter's Covenant Church, 1006 Hilltown Pike, Hilltown, PA 18927 (Hilltown Township). No viewing Wednesday. Interment will be immediately following the funeral service for immediate family only, followed by luncheon for everyone where the family will greet friends.
