A remembrance service for longtime Smyrna High teacher Kenny Anderson will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Woodfin Memorial Chapel in Murfreesboro.

Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. at the chapel, officials said.

Anderson died Friday night after a short battle with esophageal cancer, Principal Rick Powell said Saturday.

Graveside services for Anderson will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. (Eastern) at Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery in Knoxville. Anderson was a native of Knoxville.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kenny Anderson Scholarship Fund for automotive technology students at Smyrna High School, officials said.

ANDERSON, KENNETH WILLIAM - age 42, of Bell Buckle, passed away after a short battle with advanced esophageal cancer. He was a native of Knoxville, Tennessee. Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. (EST) Wednesday at Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery in Knoxville, Tennessee. Kenny is survived by his wife, Katharine Curtis Anderson; father, Jerry D. Anderson and his wife Lynn of Powell, TN; mother, Janet Anderson and her husband Jerry Penn of Knoxville, TN; brother, Allen Russell of Powell, TN; grandfather, Edward Anderson of Powell, TN; aunts and uncles, Bob and Mary Rhodes, Larry Hart, John and Dottie Doust, Carolyn and Lynn Shuler; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul and Becky Curtis of Marseilles, IL; and numerous cousins and other loving family members. Kenny was the automotive technology teacher at Smyrna High School for the past 14 years. Family would like to thank all the students and faculty at Smyrna High School for their thoughts, prayers, and acts of compassion and caring throughout the last month. Also to Stonecrest Medical Center staff for the excellent care given to Kenny. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kenny Anderson Scholarship fund at Smyrna High School for automotive technology students.
