Born May 4, 1922, in Dixon, Ill., a daughter of Christopher and Helene Hyde Brown, Helene married Dr. Willard M. Easton March 31, 1951, in Springfield, Ill. He survives.
Also surviving are one son, Christopher (Karen) Easton; one daughter, Martha (Mike) Kuhns; four grandchildren, Stacy Hasselbacher, Stephanie Hasselbacher Berryhill, Michelle Easton and David Easton; one sister, Mary Katherine (Jack) Lawson; two nephews and three nieces.
Helene was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Christine Sorenson and Elizabeth Keefe.
Helene graduated from Springfield High School and from the University of Illinois, earning a bachelors of science degree in journalism. Prior to marrying Dr. Easton, Helene worked for the Peoria Star, later becoming the Peoria Journal Star, as a state editor. .She was a member and past president of the Peoria Medical Society Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bridge and was active with the Girl Scouts and the Boy Scouts when her children were younger. Helene was an active member of First Federated Church, where she was a deaconess and served on the wedding committee.
Cremation rites were accorded with burial of ashes in the church columbarium at a later date.
