Henriette Raun, daughter of Niels Pedersen and Rasmine Raun, was born in Horsens, Jylland, Denmark on March 31, 1867. She died at the Salem Invalid's Home at Elk Horn, Iowa on August 5, 1955. Her age was 88 years, 4 months and 5 days.
She came to the United States at the age of 20 and settled in the Kimballton community. There she was married to Henry Hansen February 27, 1893 at Bethany Lutheran church. They lived in Shelby and Audubon counties until 1928, when they moved to Kimballton. Four years ago they moved to the Invalid's Home at Elk Horn. She had been bedfast for the past two and one-half years.
Mrs Hansen was baptized and confirmed in Denmark and was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran church of Kimballton.
Surviving are her husband, Henry at the Invalid's Home, two sons, Thorvald of Kimballton and Holger of Knoxville; three daughters, Mrs Hidla Hansen of Kimballton, Mrs Alma Olsen of Audubon and Mrs Bertha Berg. Also three sisters, Elsie Christensen of Omaha, Mrs Meta Sorensen and Mrs Christensen of Hastings, Nebraska; one brother, Peder Pedersen Raun of Omaha, 18 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were four sons and two daughters.
Funeral services were held from the Immanuel Lutheran church in Kimballton, with the Rev. Holger Strandskov in charge. Burial was in the Kimballton cemetery.
