Spec. 4th/class, U.S. Army, Cold War- Spec. Hofstatter was one of three crew members to be shot down in their OH23 Helicopter on 8-17-1969 in North Korea. The aircraft was shot down about 15 miles inside North Korea.

He is the son of Mr.Edward L. & Mrs. Dorothy Hofststter of R.R. #1 in Lowpoint, Illinois, and he is a 1967 graduate of Lowpoint-Washburn H.S., and he was in the Army by April of 1968. He did his training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Spec. Hofstatter leaves one brother, Alan at home, and one sister, Miss Marta Mae Hofstatter also at home.
