TREMONT - Esther M. Banwart, 93, of Tremont died at 6 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton.
She was born Oct. 20, 1920, in Hancock, Minn., to Charles and Mary (Bieri) Metzger. She married Elmer W. Banwart on June 21, 1942, in Sabetha, Kan. He preceded her in death on July 17, 1993.
She also was preceded in death by five brothers.
Surviving are one son, Sidney (Florence) Banwart of Dunlap; three daughters, Jeanne Hintz of Elgin, Ill., Barbara Banwart of Tremont and Marilyn (William) Reitzel of Morton; three grandchildren, Kami (Kevin) McClure, Dixy (Aaron) Thornton and Jed Schellhammer; five great-granddaughters; and one great-grandson.
