Doris Mabel Reller, age 89, passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Littlefork Care Center in Littlefork, MN on Sunday afternoon, April 12, 2009.
Doris Mabel Ryan was born on August 31, 1919 on the White Earth Reservation. As a two day old infant she was adopted by loving foster parents, George and Margaret Big Bear. As a youth, she attended the Benedict Mission Catholic School at White Earth. After graduation from the 8th grade she joined a youth program called National Youth Administration and did land surveying. She also worked as a waitress. On February 24th, 1941, she married Victor Reller and began their life together on a farm in Waubun, MN. Doris enjoyed working on the farm, loved cooking and baking, picking berries, dancing and catering for weddings and parties. In 1954, Doris and Victor moved to Littlefork, MN where she has resided since. Throughout her years, Doris worked in the restaurant and bakery business. She was known for her love of cooking, baking and enjoyed creating big meals for her for her family during the holidays.
Doris was preceded in death by her daughters, Eleanor Annette and Victoria Sailor, son Andrew Reller, son-in-law Bill Annette, two daughters-in-law, two grandsons, and a great granddaughter.
Doris is survived by sons, George (Carol) Reller, Norman (Debra) Reller, Martin Reller, Luke Reller, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and a special friend Violet Slawter.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the 10:00 a.m. Mass on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at St. Columban Catholic Church in Littlefork, MN. Interment will be in the Dentaybow Cemetery in Dentaybow, MN.
