Alfred A. Alonso, 25, passed away on November 19, 1993 in Washington, D.C.

He was born in 1967 in Danville.

Alfred lived in Dover most of his life before moving to Georgetown in 1982. He was a student at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C, working on the completion of his doctorate of philosophy. His goal was to become a university professor. He was a 1992 graduate of the University of Toronto Massey College in Canada with a master's degree in German, and attended the Munich Institute of Language in Germany. He was fluent in German, Spanish and French. He was a 1990 graduate of Georgetown University in Washington, D.C, with a bachelor's degree cum laude in philosophy. He received the Philosophy Medal for highest achievement and an academic scholarship toward graduate school. " He was a 1986 graduate of Delbarton Preparatory School in Mendham, where he was captain of the Varsity Wrestling Team.

He was a member of the Big Brothers of America in Morris County and volunteered as a literacy teacher for the Red Cross, both while in high school. He volunteered at a shelter for homeless and battered women while in college and worked with the campus ministry. He belonged to the National Jesuit Honor Society, Alpha Sigma Nu. He was a 1982 graduate of Sacred Heart Grammar School in Dover. He was a member of Boy Scout Troop 64 in Dover, and was made an Eagle Scout at age 17. He served as an altar boy at Sacred Heart Church in Dover.

Alfred is survived by his mother, Lil Mallo-Cruz (Bernard) of Morehead City, N.C; his father, Alfredo Mallo of Spain; a sister, Maria of Alexandria, VA; and his maternal grandparents, Heriberto Mallo and Maria Mallo of Miami.
