Richard was a graduate of Palm Beach High School and the University of North Florida. He served in the U.S. Navy for 21 years, AMSC (AC). He was a junior high and high school teacher for 20 years. Upon his retirement in 1993, he and his family resided in Hendersonville. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Andrews Chapel Masonic Lodge of Meridian, MI, the Fleet Reserve Association of WNC, and the local Hubert M. Smith American Legion Post #77.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 65 years, M. Jean Tinsley Adair; son, Daniel Allen Adair; two grandchildren; and nieces and cousins.
A funeral service will be at 2pm Monday, November 21, 2016 in the chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1-2pm in the chapel.
